SA Geotechnical Job Posting- Soil Field Technician

Job Description: SA Geotechnical, Inc. is currently seeking full-time soils technicians with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting geotechnical observation and testing during grading and earthwork operations. Duties may also include assisting with geotechnical field exploration such as borings, test pits, and hand-auger activities, as well as performing soil-related laboratory testing. Most projects are situated in Orange County, Riverside County, and San Diego County, requiring the candidate to execute soil inspection work.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a solid understanding of grading, post-grading, trench backfill testing, subgrade, aggregate base, asphalt concrete, sand cone testing, and nuclear gauge testing. Ability to interpret soil-related technical information, grading and utility plans is essential. The role demands a capacity to lift up to 75 lbs and a willingness to work with various tools, including nuclear gauges and soil sample bags.

The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in soils field testing, along with a current radiation user safety certificate. Additional experience in construction/materials inspection (deputy inspector) and relevant field certifications are advantageous.

Required Skills: Applicants should be able to travel between sites, navigate rough terrains, perform physical tasks such as shoveling and digging, and lift heavy equipment. Strong mathematical and analytical skills are crucial for soil technician duties, and the ability to work autonomously is required. Reliable transportation, punctuality, a preference for outdoor work, and effective communication skills are key. A valid California driver's license with a good driving record is mandatory as employees will use their vehicles for commuting.
