Health Centre Unit Secretary (Casual, CUPE)

Job Summary:


We are looking for a dynamic Health Centre Unit Secretary to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential clerical support to assigned hospital units under the guidance of the Manager. Your efficiency, organization, confidentiality, and time management skills are crucial for the smooth operation of this position. Your responsibilities include maintaining a progressive and organized healthcare environment to enhance the overall patient and staff experience. Additionally, you will manage office and clinical equipment and supplies for hospital units.


Key Responsibilities & Success Criteria:


  • Work in alignment with the Mission Statement and policies of the Health Centre and Ministry of Health for Long Term Care guidelines
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with patients, families, healthcare team, and other departments
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities on the unit with the Interdisciplinary team
  • Handle incoming calls and inquiries from patients, visitors, and staff
  • Prepare patient admissions and discharges based on team directives
  • Maintain an organized patient filing system
  • Handle photocopying, faxing, and processing of forms and correspondence
  • Arrange for patient transportation and order supplies
  • Facilitate staff replacements when needed
  • Perform other assigned duties and cover other units when required
  • Ensure client and staff safety through adherence to safety policies
  • Promote an environment supportive of change

Qualifications:


  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in administration or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Minimum of one year clerical experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Skills & Abilities:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills
  • Customer service-oriented with a focus on SJHCG core values
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently

Hours of Work: 4hr/8hr shifts, providing sick and vacation coverage


Pay: $26.24-$26.87 per hour
