Job Description


As a SEND Education Pathway Officer (SEPO) within the ICDS EHC Assessment Team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) Assessment process. Currently maintaining around 4700 EHCPs and receiving over 35 new EHC Needs Assessment requests weekly, this position is pivotal in our service improvement journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead decision making on EHC Needs Assessment Requests and implement SEN Support across various education settings
  • Act as a liaison between the LA and education settings, ensuring understanding and application of the graduated approach
  • Collaborate with professionals, children, young people, and parents/carers using person-centered approaches
  • Manage EHC Needs Assessment requests within statutory timescales, aligning with SEND regulations
  • Provide challenge and support to promote inclusive practices in educational settings
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Regulations 2015, and SEND Code of Practice 2014
  • Analyze information related to SEND appeals and Mediation and First Tier Tribunals
  • Conduct post-decision meetings with settings and families
  • Demonstrate personal drive, commitment, and IT proficiency
  • Work effectively under pressure and deadlines
