Job Description

Do you have a genuine passion for creating a positive impact on the lives of children and young individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Would you like to contribute to shaping the futures of Nottinghamshire's youth? Join a dedicated council that is wholeheartedly committed to enhancing the prospects of children and young people with SEND.

If the answer is yes, an exciting opportunity awaits you!

Nottinghamshire ICDS, Statutory EHC Assessment Service is a comprehensive countywide service entrusted with the vital role of conducting Education Health Care Needs Assessments (EHCNA) and maintaining all Education health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for the children and young people of Nottinghamshire.

The service operates through two distinct teams, one dedicated to Pre-16 and the other focused on Post-16.

We are currently seeking a new EHC Coordinator to join the Pre-16 team and contribute to our ongoing journey of SEND enhancements. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in achieving positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND in Nottinghamshire.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Exhibiting a comprehensive understanding of the Children & Families Act 2014, the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014, the SEN Code 2015, and the Care Act.
  • Managing a Caseload of children and/or young people with EHCPs.
  • Coordinating the statutory EHCNA process for Children & Young People (CYP) with SEND while adhering to established timescales.
  • Engaging in co-production with parents and CYP to ensure their perspectives are accurately represented in all documentation.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in Preparing for Adulthood outcomes and integrating these into your work with young individuals and their EHCPs.
  • Drafting high-quality EHC plans that incorporate the aspirations and viewpoints of CYP, with outcomes that are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timebound).
  • Possessing a deep understanding of Nottinghamshire's graduated response to supporting children and young people with SEND, including services that offer support at the 'SEN Support' level.
  • Managing communications and expectations of families with SEND regarding available support and services within the Local Offer.
  • Conducting multi-agency meetings to finalize the content of new or revised Education, Health & Care Plans, especially in cases where education placements are at risk.
  • Establishing strong connections with Education, Health & Care colleagues.
  • Integrating into a well-established team within the community, fostering relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Exhibiting strong literacy and IT skills, with familiarity in the MOSAIC case management system being advantageous.

We are seeking highly motivated and resilient individuals capable of working effectively under pressure.

As a team player, you should demonstrate a keen drive to enhance services for disabled children and young people, along with the ability to organize and manage tasks within statutory timelines.

You must possess advanced communication and negotiation skills, with experience in collaborating effectively with disabled children/young people, their parents/carers, and a wide array of Education, Health & Social Care entities and professionals.
