Role: Curator

Location: Blue Planet Aquarium – Ellesmere Port

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Salary: £31,000 per year

Blue Planet Aquarium, a premier UK aquarium, is seeking a passionate Curator to oversee the management of its world-class exhibits. As a Curator, you will lead a team dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of animal care, exhibit maintenance, and conservation efforts.

Reporting to the Park Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of the aquarium. Joining Aspro UK, a leading group with multiple aquariums and attractions, offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team in animal care and exhibit maintenance
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Contribute to conservation and education initiatives
• Collaborate with Aspro team members across Europe

Requirements:

• Degree in Marine Biology, Zoology, Ecology, or related field
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar Curator/Supervisor role
• Strong knowledge of aquatic animal care and life support systems
• Experience in exhibit design and maintenance
• Leadership and budget management skills
• Familiarity with UK Zoo Licence standards
• Passionate about conservation and animal welfare
• Health and Safety certifications
• Valid Driving Licence
• Ability to lift up to 20kg
• Proficient in MS Office and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• DMZAA or equivalent qualification
• PADI Divemaster certification or willingness to obtain
