Credit Controller

Reporting to: Credit Control Manager

Job Type: Permanent, full time

Location: Cardiff/Hybrid

Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 (DOE)

Your Role:

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our Finance team and contribute to maintaining a proficient and courteous credit control function. This role involves fostering strong relationships with both colleagues and clients to ensure top-notch service delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Promptly follow up on overdue invoices via telephone, email, or letter within established timelines.
  • Engage professionally with various stakeholders.
  • Keep accurate records related to invoice recoveries within the Credit Control database/Practice Management System.
  • Provide comprehensive responses to client and internal inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and reconciliations as needed.
  • Monitor invoice delivery and review trends with the Credit Manager.
  • Periodically check account statuses and issue monthly statements.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Credit Manager to identify potential opportunities or address problematic debts, reporting on their impact on cash collection targets.
  • Participate in internal meetings to review debt with legal teams as necessary.
  • Assist Finance in resolving client balances.

  • Highly accurate, efficient, and organized, with excellent task prioritization skills.
  • Honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer operation, especially Microsoft packages like Excel.
  • Prior experience in credit control is mandatory.
  • Experience in the legal/professional services industry is advantageous.
