As a Financial Process Improvement Specialist at Toronto Public Health, you will collaborate with the Manager Finance to enhance service delivery, and strengthen financial controls through business process reviews and analysis.
Major Responsibilities:
- Offer guidance and support in internal control, financial data reporting, and performance measurement.
- Supervise projects related to business systems or processes.
- Recommend changes in policies, procedures, and management practices to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
- Conduct interviews, document business processes, and facilitate requirements gathering sessions. Organize reviews and re-engineering activities with stakeholders.
- Create and document standard financial and operational policies and procedures.
- Lead inter-divisional teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Prepare business cases, project plans, requirements documentation, design documents, training plans, and user manuals.
- Generate reports and recommendations for management to improve business methods, processes, staffing levels, and resource allocation.
- Create visual presentations, briefing materials, and other necessary documentation.
- Conduct financial analysis to measure service delivery effectiveness, identify key indicators, and design processes to track those indicators.
- Participate in developing and executing the division's budgets and financial monitoring policies to ensure data integrity and cost center management.
- Analyze business processes and financial data to ensure compliance with budgeted levels and prepare presentations and documentation as needed.
- Contribute to budget administration, monitoring expenditures within approved limits, identifying trends, and recommending improvements.
Key Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in business administration or accounting, or equivalent experience. A professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) is advantageous.
- Extensive experience with financial information systems like SAP, Business Warehouse, and S4 Hana, using dashboard tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Significant experience in accounting, financial analysis, policy development, dashboard creation, KPIs, and statistical reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, managing databases, and adapting to new technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to analyze and present statistical data effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills with an innovative and results-oriented approach.
